Oxfordshire events to look forward to in 2017

Christmas has been and gone, and the start of a brand new year has brought with it some predictably gloomy weather. If you’re suffering from the back-to-work blues, here are some dates to get into your diary for this year so that you have something to look forward to.

 

Common People Festival

Duran Duran and Primal Scream are among the acts lined up for this year’s Common People Festival in Oxford’s South Park. Enjoy your favourite bands with sweeping views of the dreaming spires on the late May Bank Holiday weekend.

 

Henley Royal Regatta

A favourite event in the British sporting calendar, the Henley Royal Regatta is the place to be if you’re interested in seeing some of the nation’s best oarsmen in action. Cowley Road Carnival

Taking place this year on 2 July, Oxford’s liveliest community event returns for another year on 2 July. Expect lots of colour, lots of music and dancing, and a party atmosphere that continues late into the night.

 

Cornbury Music Festival

Back for the 14th time but sadly also the last, the 2017 Cornbury Music Festival is headlined by none other than legendary international star Bryan Adams, who’ll play the Saturday. Make the most of this fantastic local festival while it lasts.

 

Countryfile Live

A must for any lover of the countryside, Countryfile Live is your chance to watch animal displays, learn about all things rural, meet your favourite presenters and much more. The action unfolds in the beautiful environs of Blenheim Palace, where you’ll also find plenty of tempting shopping, food and drink along with fun and games from 4×4 off-roading to a camera tower.

 

St Giles Street Fair

50th Round Table Fireworks

Now celebrating its 50th year, the ever-impressive Oxford Round Table Fireworks will be dazzling crowds once again come the night before Bonfire Night.
