Stars on tour in 2018: the hottest acts
2018 looks set to be a great year for seeing some of the entertainment industry’s biggest acts on tour. Here’s our pick of some of the most exciting gigs happening this year. Which will you be getting tickets for?
Britney Spears: Piece of Me
Normally to be found gracing the stage of the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Britney Spears is taking her ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ show on tour. Coming to the UK for the first time in seven years and supported by the American rapper Pitbull, she’ll perform a series of hugely anticipated gigs in locations including Brighton, Manchester, London and Birmingham. Get tickets and full details here.
Elton John: Farewell Yellow Brick Road
Another Vegas favourite announced his last ever tour this year. If you’ve always wanted to see Elton John perform live, his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour will be your last chance, because the star is retiring. Starting in September, you could jet off to the US to see him perform in one of the numerous locations Stateside, or you can wait until 1 May onwards for him to come to Europe (don’t forget to book your airport transfers and get to the airport in comfort!). You can find all the details of the tour here.
Taylor Swift: Reputation
Promoting her new album ‘Reputation’, Taylor Swift’s latest world tour comes to the UK in June 2018. Supported by Charli XCX and Camila Cabello, the tour has Friday and Saturday gigs on consecutive weekends at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park and London’s Wembley Stadium, starting on 8 June. Kylie’s new UK tour supports her new album ‘Golden’ with a show that promises new songs and old favourites alike. The tour kicks off in London and Manchester on 13 and 14 March, with further dates in Newcastle, Nottingham and Birmingham from 18 to 21 September. Get tickets here.
Bill Bailey: Larks in Transit
If pop music isn’t your cup of tea, you might enjoy Bill Bailey’s latest UK tour. ‘Larks in Transit’ is described on the comedian-musicians website as “a compendium of travellers’ tales and the general shenanigans of twenty years as a travelling comedian” – with plenty of “musical virtuosity” and “an excruciating encounter with Paul McCartney” thrown in. The show started in Coventry on 29 January, and there are 95 dates until it finishes in High Wycombe on 16 June. Find out more here.
Derren Brown: Underground
Finally, something a little different. If loud gigs aren’t your cup of tea, you might enjoy Derren Brown’s latest tour instead. Running from 3 April to 5 July at venues around the UK, ‘Underground’ promises “a jaw-dropping experience of magical genius” based on all the illusionist’s favourite work.
