Oxfordshire’s Best Spa Days
With autumn well and truly here, now is the perfect time to unwind with a bit of ‘me time’ before the busy Christmas period gets underway. We’ve picked out some of our favourite spa day destinations, each within easy reach of Oxford, where you can treat yourself to some much-needed time out.
1. Heythrop Park Resort
Spend the day relaxing in the spa or stop a night or two in a choice of two beautiful hotels at Heythrop Park, just 12 miles north of Oxford. Choose from a menu of luxurious ESPA spa treatments and enjoy the use of a 20m pool, sauna and steam room. Go for the Luxurious Spa Day package and you’ll even get a glass of Prosecco and lunch thrown in, along with two hours’ worth of treatments.
2. Cotswolds Hotel and Spa
Retreat from the chaos of the outside world at the relaxing Cotswolds Hotel and Spa in Chipping Norton. On a spa day, not only can you indulge with a range of soothing spa treatments, but you’ll also be able to unwind in the hot tub and sauna up on the roof terrace. Sit back and enjoy panoramic views from the relaxation area, before sipping a chilled glass of bubbly over a light lunch.
3. Randolph Hotel
No round-up of Oxfordshire’s greatest spas would be complete without a mention of Oxford’s best-loved hotel. The Randolph Hotel may be best known for its luxurious afternoon tea, but it’s also home to a spa that has been ranked among the top 50 in the world. You’ll find it on the bottom level, packed with calming spaces including an aromatherapy steam room, hydrotherapy bath, sauna and more besides. Treat yourself to a pampering Elemis spa treatment or two and make the most of your visit.
4. Dormy House Hotel and Spa
Why not combine a spa day with a trip to the Cotswolds? Set in 400 acres of landscaped parkland near Broadway, Dormy House Hotel and Spa is the perfect destination for a luxurious rural retreat. With its Scandinavian-inspired vibes, the award-winning House Spa is sure to leave you rested and restored. Particularly alluring in winter, the spa has an enticing treatment menu along with luxurious facilities including a lavender-infused sauna (lavender sourced, naturally, from the Cotswolds), a Champagne nail bar, a stunning candlelit infinity pool and lots more.
5. Hartwell House Hotel and Spa
Across the border in Buckinghamshire, you could hardly imagine a more picturesque setting for a spa. Hartwell House is a grand stately home-turned-hotel, and its former orangery is now an opulent spa. As well as a stunning pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, there’s a tempting array of treatments on offer, and a cafe in the gallery above the pool for a bite to eat afterwards.
